The license, in plain words

You're buying a source-code license. Here is what it means, in plain words; the binding text is the LICENSE.md that ships in your repo.

What you can do

  • Build unlimited products and applications that you own, commercial or not. Ship one app or ten; sell them, keep all the revenue. No royalties, no per-app fees.
  • Modify every part of the kit, without restriction, in the products you build.
  • Do client work. The application you deliver belongs to your client, and that's fine. The license itself doesn't transfer: a client who wants to build new products directly on the kit needs their own copy.
  • Work with your team. Employees and contractors may work in your private repo. They may not take the kit with them for use outside your products.

What you can't do

  • Resell, redistribute, or sublicense the kit itself, in whole or in substantial part. That includes publishing it to a public repository, packaging it into your own starter kit, template, boilerplate, or code-generation product, or sharing your copy with people outside your team.
  • Transfer your license to another person or company without written permission.
  • Build a product whose primary value is the kit's own source code. That's redistribution with extra steps.

The line: shipping products built with the kit is exactly what it's for. Shipping the kit is not.

The watermark

Each purchased copy is watermarked to its licensee: a license block with your name, order, and license ID is stamped into the repository automatically at delivery. It changes nothing about how you build. If a copy is redistributed, the watermark identifies the source. That is how we sell source code without wrapping it in DRM.

A versioned purchase, not a subscription

Bump is a one-time purchase. The version you buy is yours forever: your copy is a snapshot of the kit at purchase, and it becomes your codebase from day one. For 12 months after purchase, security issues found in your version are covered: an advisory with a ready-to-paste AI patch prompt, plus the code fix to pull if it still applies. New major versions are separate releases: Bump's job is the head start, not keeping your product current.

Refunds and termination

Because the full source code is delivered minutes after purchase, there are no change-of-mind refunds. If the kit is not as described or you cannot get it running, email support@bump.build and we will make it right or refund you. Nothing in this policy limits rights you have under mandatory consumer protection laws where you live (for buyers in Australia, the Australian Consumer Law). If a purchase is refunded, the license terminates immediately: you delete your copies and stop using the kit in new work. The license also terminates if you breach the restrictions above and don't remedy the breach promptly after notice.

The fine print

The kit is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. You are responsible for your own products: their security, their compliance with laws and app store policies, and their behavior in production. The kit's source code remains the intellectual property of its author; your products, your modifications, and your own code are yours.
